I have a specialist interest in working with people who have a chaotic relationship with food and are struggling with weight, regardless of age.

Most people at some time in their lives experience difficulties or problems and feel things just aren’t as they hoped they would be. It is often difficult to speak to those closest to you. Family and friends may have their own views about your concerns and find it difficult to accept your perspective. You may feel loathe to bring up the same concern again.

There may be a concern that work colleagues may think us ‘not up to the job’ and unprofessional if we share our concerns. This is when it can be helpful to talk to a counsellor, someone experienced, who is trained to hear you without judging or giving advice and accept us as we are.

There are many reasons why people come for counselling. It doesn't have to be a big problem; anything that matters to you or you would like to discuss can be shared. I believe talking things through can really help.

Counselling offers a safe confidential place to talk about your life and anything that may be confusing, painful or uncomfortable.

It allows you to talk with someone who is trained to listen attentively and to help you improve things.

You will not be judged or given advice. Counselling is about helping you to develop insights into your problems and finding your own resources and strengths.

It is about helping you to make your own choices and decisions and to take responsibility for your own life.

My role is to create a supportive space where you can gain greater insight into your concerns and desires. I am able to offer you the choice of using CBT interventions which many people find effective and helpful. The choice is yours, and we can discuss this during the initial consultation.
